First Democratically Elected Gov Of Abia State Passes On

LAGOS APRIL 13TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The first democratically elected Governor of the old Abia State and former Nigerian Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has died at the age of 73.

The younger brother of the deceased confirmed this exclusively to ait.live that the ex-Minister died of a prolonged illness which started days after the 2023 APC Presidential primaries election.

He said the late Onu was confirmed dead at an Abuja hospital in the early hours on Thursday morning.

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was a two term Minister during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was one of those who aspired to succeed Buhari but withdrew from the contest before the primary election.

Onu was the National Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) at the time of the merger talks that resulted in the forming of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
