LAGOS DECEMBER 13TH NEWSRANGERS)-In an attempt to create peaceful environment for Lagos residents in this yuletide period, Lagos police took the battle to the criminal dens located in Lagos which resulted in the arrest of thirty hoodlums made up of armed robbers, kidnappers, Badoo murderers, ritualists and reovery of cache of arms and hard drugs.
Addressing journalists on Monday at the Lagos State Police command, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal said the various crime prevention strategies emplaced by Lagos State Command yielded results culminating in the smashing of armed robbery gangs, arrest of suspected kidnappers and murderers.
He said the reason for this achievement is not unconnected with the partnership between the police and members of the public through community policing and safety partnership project of Lagos State Police Command as directed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
Reviewing the activities of the Command in the past two weeks, Edgal said his men arrested thirty nine suspected criminals I the period under review, adding that those arrested are twelve suspected cultist, twenty suspected armed robbers, three suspected kidnappers and four suspected Badoo murderers.
“In the period under review, forty different kind of arms and ammunitions were recovered from the hoodlums. They include one barretta pistol, AK 47 rifle, one toy gun, thirty locally made double barrel pistol and seven locally made single barrel long gun.
“Seventy one ammunitions were recovered. They are two magazines, forty five rounds of AK 47 ammunitions, one expended cartridge, seventeen life expended cartridge, five barreta pistol ammunitions and one LAR Rifle Ammunition,” Edgal disclosed.
