Unknown Person Abandon New Born Baby In Church Altar
LAGOS NOVEMBER 26TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Ondo State Police Command has handed over an abandoned newborn baby to the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The baby was reportedly found on the altar of a church, the Holy Fountain Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Oda Road, Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday.
PUNCH Metro gathered that members of the church found the baby crying in the early hours of Wednesday when they entered the church.
According to a source, the newborn was wrapped in green clothes as the person that dumped the child fled.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the mother of the baby had yet to show up, hence the transfer of the child to the ministry officials.
She said, “The baby was initially in our custody, but now we have handed over the child to officials of the ministry of women affairs.”
