‘Tinubu Must Go’ Protesters Occupy Zamfara Streets Over Insecurity

LAGOS NOVEMBER 4TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Residents of Zamfara State on Monday staged a protest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, taking to the streets of the state capital with the slogan #TinubuMustGo amid persistent insecurity and other challenges confronting the region.

SaharaReporters gathered that the demonstration attracted men, women, including elderly women, young people and children, who were seen marching through parts of the state capital while expressing their dissatisfaction with the current administration.

Some of the protesters wore branded ‘TinubuMustGo’ T-Shirts and baseball caps.

In videos obtained by SaharaReporters, large numbers of residents were seen participating in the protest, with some chanting slogans and displaying messages calling for Tinubu to leave office.

A vehicle equipped with a loudspeaker accompanied the demonstrators, amplifying their messages and slogans as they moved through the streets.

The protest comes amid years of persistent insecurity in Zamfara State, one of the states in Nigeria’s North-West region that have been severely affected by banditry, kidnappings and deadly attacks on communities.

Zamfara has remained a major hotspot of bandit violence, with notorious armed groups operating across the state and neighbouring parts of the North-West, including Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina states, which share boundaries with Zamfara.

The activities of armed groups have subjected residents of several communities to repeated attacks, killings, abductions, displacement and destruction of property, leaving many families struggling to cope with the consequences of prolonged insecurity.

The demonstration also comes amid growing public concerns over insecurity and the government’s handling of the security challenges affecting communities across parts of northern Nigeria.
