LAGOS MARCH 23RD (NEWSRANGERS)-There was panic when over 200 youths in the early hours of Thursday burnt down a police station and a church in Bayan Dutse area of Narayi, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The rampaging youths were said to have burnt down the Celestial Church of God parish at Narayi following the death of a youth in the area who was working for the church when he died.
It was learnt that trouble started when the youths demanded that the police in Narayi hand over to them the pastor in charge of the church where the young man died.
It was gathered that the police had taken the pastor into protective custody after he had reported that a youth doing some construction work for the church had died in the process.
According to the source, “The police station was burnt because when the hoodlums came, the police on duty were seriously outnumbered, so they (the police) took off for safety.”
He said the youths, apart from burning the police station, made away with no fewer than seven motorcycles belonging to their personnel as well as vandalising a Honda Accord vehicle, popularly called Hennessey, belonging to an officer.
