Police Dismiss Alleged Killer Cop Of Generator Repairer
LAGOS JULY 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The trigger-happy Police Inspector, Kabiru Odejimi, who alleged killed a generator technician, Bakare Idris in Lagos has been dismissed from service.
Odejimi, attached to Alausa Division, was alleged to have shot the technician dead at Oregun in May, while the deceased was returning home from an outing.
It was alleged that the killer-cop, who was off duty at the time of the incident, was in the habit of harrassing, extorting people in the neighbourhood.
After shooting a direct bullet at the technician, he was alleged to have carried him inside a bus and took him away threatening his family members.
It was at the police station they discovered that the Inspector was off duty and had taken Idris to an unknown destination. The Divisional Police Officer was said to have called him and he admitted that he took the victim to am emergency centre where he died.
News of the incident generated public outcry which forced the Commissioner of Police (CP) Idowu Owohunwa to visit the bereaved family. The CP during the visit was said to have promised the family justice.
Consequently, the Inspector was tried in an orderly room and his dismissal recommended.
Giving update on the case, spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the recommendation for his dismissal was approved, adding that he would be arraigned in court on Friday.
He said: “The recommendation for dismissal of Inspector Kabiru Odeyemi was today (yesterday) approved. This paves way for his arraignment which will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, assures Lagosians of his unwavering determination to police the state within the dictates of rule of law, civility and respect for human life.”
