Okada Ban: Three Feared Dead As Police, Okada Riders Clash In Part Of Lagos
LAGOS JANUARY 3RD (NEWSRANGERS)-There is palpable pandemonium in Ijora, a suburb of Lagos as policemen and motorcyclists faced off over Lagos State government ban on operation of motorcycles and tricycles in some major roads in Lagos.
An eyewitness disclosed that about three persons were feared dead, scores injured, vehicles and property torched.
Ijora is in Apapa Local Government, one of the LGAs where the state government banned operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles. The ban came into effect on Saturday.
According to multiple eyewitness reports, members of the Nigerian Police Force and touts are presently clashing in Ijora, Lagos state.
A video clip shared by Instablog9ja showed burnt tires under a bridge in Ijora while gunshots goes off in the background.
It has also been reported that during the clash, two people were hit with bullets, a man and a woman, along Ijora Oloye Road. Schools within this area have been reportedly shut down due to the violence.
