Ijaw Youths Caution Buhari Against Plot To Retire New Promoted DIG Moses Jitoboh
LAGOS FEBRUARY 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against any plot to summarily retire newly promoted and decorated Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Moses Jitoboh, an Ijaw son.
The IYC said Jitoboh’s recent promotion to the rank of DIG should not be a ploy to remove him from the Nigeria Police Force as he had the potential to take over from the outgoing Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
In a statement on Wednesday by the spokesperson, Ebilade Ekerefe, the Ijaw group pointed out that DIG Jitoboh still have nine years of service in his career.
Ekerefe said information at the disposal of the IYC indicated that there were sinister moves to summarily retire Jitoboh because he was from the Niger Delta, warning that such orchestrated plan would not be accepted.
According to him, the Ijaw nation was still nursing the injury of the unfair treatment meted to a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Matthew Seiyefa, who was summarily retired by Buhari.
He said,”Now that DIG Moses Ambakina Jitoboh has been duly decorated with his new rank, he stands out as the most, if not, the only qualified person for the office of the IGP and we aren’t pretending or begging to be given what is due our son.
“We are Nigerians and must be treated as such. We will not accept a second class citizen treatment when it comes to appointments and first class citizen when it comes to the exploitation of our resources.
“We want to observe that under this present administration, the people of the Niger Delta have had cases of unfair treatments meted out against qualified and deserving persons from the region.
“Take a look at the way the former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Matthew Seiyefa, was treated and summarily retired. The region has had a huge share of imbalance and unfair treatment at the federal level of government”.
