Father Shoots Son To Death For Allegedly Beheading His Mother
LAGOS MARCH 27TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Tragedy struck in the Iheaka community in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State yesterday as a man who was suspected to have beheaded his mother for ritual purposes was killed by his own father.
The suspect, Kenneth Ugwu, who is a spare parts dealer based in Lagos allegedly visited his parents in the village with the intention of committing the crime.
A witness, Miss Adaeze, said that Kenneth returned from Lagos and offered to help his mother in the farm where she had gone to cut palm fruit:
“When they got to the farm, rather than cut the palm fruit, he cut off the mothers’ head, put it in a black polythene bag,”she said.
When he got home, the father inquired about his wife. But Kenneth said she was on her way home and quickly rushed to the bathroom to take his bath and leave for Lagos.
“His father, Cyril Ugwu, suspected his son’s sudden decision to travel back to Lagos. So he went to check the content of the polythene bag only to find the severed head of his wife. He allegedly loaded his double-barrel gun and shot him as he stepped out to leave for Lagos. The villagers, especially the men among them went into the bush and found the woman’s corpse dumped on a footpath with several machete cuts on her body.
Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ndukwe Ekea, said that investigation was still going on.
