Ajah Bullion Van Robbery Was Planned Work- Lagos Police Boss Alleged

LAGOS NOVEMBER 18TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Lagos State Police Command has said that the Tuesday billion robbery was arranged.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu described the attack as a premeditated operation.

Mr. Odumosu said that preliminary investigation has revealed t that the bullion van left without any security escort.

The armed gang had hijacked a bullion van along Ado road, Ajah, and bolted away with a huge amount of money.

It was also reported that two persons were feared killed while a commercial motorcycle rider sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.

“This action is not in conformity with laid down procedures” he added.

The robbery which was recorded by witnesses and shared across social media platforms, saw the gunmen driving a Sienna vehicle, chasing the bullion van for a long distance before the van halted in front of Blanco Supermarket.

The CP said: “Ajah robbery is under investigation. The bullion van was waylaid. It created the environment for that incident to happen. The rule is that for a bullion van to move money, there must be escorts in front and behind.

“But this one had no single escort. No vehicle in front, no one behind. There was no single reaction to that attack which shows it’s a premeditated one.

Notwithstanding, actions have been taken. Law has been violated and investigations have commenced”he added.

Odumosu assured that policemen were back on the streets adding that even those whose stations were burnt were being offered temporary accommodations by local governments or Community Development Associations (CDAs) pending the erection of makeshift office spaces for them.
