ACFTA: Standard Organisation Of Nigeria Sets To Tackle Fake, Substandard Products
LAGOS OCTOBER 17TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON,Dr Joseph Odumodu has said that the Agency is ready to tackle issues of fake and substandard products coming into Nigeria, with the approval of African Continental Free Trade Agreement, ACFTA, by government.
The SON boss made this known through his representative, Engineer Enebi Olutoye made the statement yesterday in the premises of NAGAF, Apapa, Lagos during a media roundtable event organised by Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN).
According to him, SON has its mark of certification on goods manufactured in Nigeria, as well as those imported into the country, asssuring that they can trace every product suspected to be substandard to the manufacturer, or origin.
He also said that SON is working assiduously to curtail influx of fake products into the country, in order to prevent people from consuming such dangerous goods.
Also speaking, the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Aniebonam said SON must return to the seaports immediately, to check fake and life endangering products coming into the country through these areas.
Dr Aniebonam commended MAJAN for the media roundtable just as he appealed to maritime Journalists to do more on the area of investigative reporting on issues concerning the maritime sector of the economy.
