Human Right Activist, Malcolm Omirhobo Challenges Legality Of Operation Python Dance
LAGOS JANUARY 2ND (NEWSRANGERS)-Human right activist Barr. (Chief) Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo in conjunction with Malcolm Omirhobo foundation has approached the Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday, 2nd January 2019, to challenge the legality and constitutionality of the Nigerian Military operation python dance.
The Nigerian Army Chief of Staff had on Friday, 28th day of December 2018 , announced that the Military will with effect from the 1st day of January 2019 to the 28th day of February 2019 use the Nigerian Military throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria to tackle internal security challenges in the country such as kidnapping, terrorism, ethnic militia, banditry, armed robbery, proliferation and stock piling of arms, election violence and other related offences during the conduct of the Nigerian 2019 general elections.
Via an originating motion dated 31/12/2018 supported by a 91 paragraph affidavit, Chief Malcolm Emokiniovo is praying the court amongst other things for declaration of court that Operation Python Dance is a violation of the fundamental rights to life, dignity of human person, personal liberty, family and private life, freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, association and movement of the Nigerian Public and therefore illegal, unlawful, undemocratic and unconstitutional.
He is also seeking for the declaration of the court that it is the primary and constitutional responsibility of the Nigerian Police Force to tackle internal security challenges in the country such as kidnapping, terrorism, militancy, ethnic militia, banditry, robbery, proliferation and stock piling of arms, election violence and other related offences and not that of the Nigerian Armed Forces and/or Military.

11. The Chief of Naval Staff
12. The Chief of Defence Staff
13. The Honourable Minister of Defence
The case has been assigned to the Vacation Judge and fixed to come up tomorrow morning 3rd, January 2019, for the first time.
