“Tribunal:Danger Is Lurking With The Kind Of Evidence LP, PDP Are Front-Loading”

IGHO AKEREGA

LAGOS JUNE 15TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, which led to Bola Ahmed Tinubu being elected as President, is currently undergoing legal scrutiny at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).

Several Nigerians have raised concerns about the fairness of the election. Igho Akeregha, a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, addressed the petitions challenging President Tinubu’s victory and expressed apprehension about the potential implications of the evidence being presented by the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the tribunal.

It is worth noting that the LP and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have submitted a larger number of documents in court. These documents primarily include result sheets and reports from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the administration of the presidential election.

During an interview with AIT, Akeregha commented that many Nigerians are already showing support for Tinubu’s presidency. However, he cautioned that there could be a significant risk if the evidence provided by the opposition is strong enough to catch them off guard.

In his words: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) messed up the 2023 general elections because with all the promises, they didn’t deliver the best election ever as promised.

“President Bola Tinubu is coming up with pro-people policies and a lot of Nigerians are warming up to his government. Behind all this, serious danger is lurking with the kind of evidence that LP and PDP are front-loading before the tribunal. If the judges decide to be courageous as Nigerians expect them to be, there will be some surprises.”
