Traffic Robbers Brandishing Guns, Cutlasses Attack Guardian Journalists, Cart Away Laptops, Phones
LAGOS DECEMBER 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Five armed robbers of a gang on Tuesday, attacked two Guardian Journalists, and robbed them of their possession at Cele Bus Stop, on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
The journalists, whose name were given as Stanley Akpunonu and Ngozi Egenuka, said that the robbers gave them a terrible beating before parting away with 2 android phones, an Iphone and a laptop, all aodth over 300,000.
Narrating the incident, Ngozi, said, “We were in a bus heading to Mile Two, but at Cele Bus Stop, the tyre of the bus we were in got burst while in traffic. We all came down to collect our balance when suddenly, the armed robbers appeared to attack us. One of them put a gun to Stanley’s head, saying ‘Don’t shout or I will shoot. Oya bring out your phone.”
Stanley described the experience as traumatized.
“It was traumatising for me. A gun was pointed at me and my phones and laptop were taken away from me.”
Stanley said that the driver and conductor of the bus they boarded managed to escape, he however, said that other passengers were not lucky as the robbers pounced on them and took their valuables.
According to reports, the armed robbers proceeded to rob other motorists who were stuck in traffic along the cele express road.
