Police Orderly To LG Chair, Two Others Killed In Cult War In Edo State


LAGOS JANUARY 27TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A police officer, Sergeant Monday Ehijie, an orderly to Ipoba-Okha local government chairman and two others were alleged to have been killed in a cult related fight in Edo State.
It was gathered that the police officer was killed alongside two of his cult group members at the weekend while fighting rival cult group with his cult members
It was further gathered that the officer was killed at Namayo junction, Upper Sakpoba, Ipoba Okha local government area of Edo State.
It was also learnt that the deceased police officer’s parent had been warning him to stop his cult activity even after becoming a police officer but to no avail.
Source said the fight was between two rival cult group and that the officer was fighting with his group, adding that the rival group traced him to Namayo junction and shot him and two others dead after the fight.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Olusegun Odumosun, who confirmed the incident, said it was a cult killing and that the deceased police officer was a cultist.
He said: “It was alleged that the officer belong to a cult group and he was fighting on the side of his cult group with rival cult group.
“That was what led to his death. Three people lost their life in the fight.
“I have gone to see his family. It is a cult killing and the officer is cultist,” he said.
He said efforts were on to arrest the killers, warning that cultist will have no hiding place in the state.
