Peter Obi, Others Honoured For Their Efforts, Dedication, Sacrifices In Advancing Nigeria
LAGOS MAY 26TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Champion Newspapers Ltd. honored 43 Nigerians and institutions for their contributions to advancing Nigeria at their annual awards ceremony in Lagos on Saturday night, as reported by NAN.
Peter Obi received recognition as a distinguished leader for his work in public policy, good governance, international business, and human capital development.
Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo was named the 2023 Governor of the Year for Infrastructure and Rural Development, praised for his transformative projects that improved communities and set new standards in governance.
Other notable awardees included Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who was honored with the 2023 Excellence in Service Award.
Dr. Nwaduito Iheakanwa, Managing Director of Champion Newspapers Ltd., emphasized the importance of honoring individuals and institutions that strengthen Nigeria. She urged Nigerians to focus on good governance and constructive actions, setting aside political distractions.
Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retired), the event’s chairman and CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, highlighted the significance of the awards in encouraging excellence and dedication.
Marwa also addressed the ongoing issue of illicit drugs in Nigeria, noting their destructive impact on youths, families, and communities. He linked the drug crisis to other criminal activities like kidnapping and banditry and called on parents to play a crucial role in properly raising their children to prevent drug abuse.
