LAGOS AUGUST 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Tension reportedly gripped Ikire, Osun State, on Monday following a clash between officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and state motor park management officials over control of the Naira and Kobo Garage.
The clash, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, reportedly left five people dead, including three commercial bus drivers and two passersby, while several others sustained injuries.
Sources said the confrontation involved the use of firearms, machetes and other dangerous weapons as the two groups allegedly battled over the control and management of motor parks in the town.
The identities of those reportedly killed could not be independently established as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Osun State Police Command were unsuccessful.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, told our reporter that he was busy and requested that the reporter call back later.
