LAGOS AUGUST 13TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Victor Osimhen’s availability has been raised between Arsenal and Galatasaray amid discussions regarding the Turkish club’s interest in Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Galatasaray have made a £38.4m offer for Martinelli and indicated an interest in Nwaneri, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille, amid wide-ranging talks with Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.
Those discussions are believed to have included the possible scenario of Osimhen moving to Arsenal, although it is unclear if that was raised by Berta or whether the striker was essentially offered to the Premier League champions.
Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in Osimhen, but the Nigeria international has been below Julian Alvarez in the club’s list of striker targets.
Atletico Madrid’s £100m-plus valuation of Alvarez has so far proved to be prohibitive to Arsenal and consideration is understood to have been given to switching targets.
One year older than Alvarez, Osimhen has proved himself to be one of the deadliest strikers in Europe at Napoli and Galatasaray. It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal will pursue a move for the 27-year-old, or whether his future is tied to that of Martinelli or Nwaneri.
Osimhen has already been linked with a move to Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking for attacking reinforcements.
Arsenal are shaping up for a busy end to the transfer window, with the club hoping to complete incoming and outgoing deals.
The London club remain interested in Aston Villa central defender Ezri Konsa, although they must get closer to matching Villa’s £60m valuation.
Arsenal have tried to argue Villa’s asking price down, but the Midlands club have so far refused to negotiate on the fee with Konsa due back in training after playing regularly for England at the World Cup.
Konsa is thought to be open to a move to the Emirates, but is unlikely to actively push for a move away from Villa Park. That means Arsenal will have to find an agreement with Villa for a move to progress.
