LAGOS JUNE 11TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Popular Nigeria Singer and Song  Writer  yesterday cry profusely like a baby while lamenting about the rampant  killings taking part all over Nigeria.

She called on the Federal Government to do something about the  state of insecurity in the country and how to stop the incessant bloodshed and killing of the male youths  mostly  in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The activist who equally doubled as journalist and Human Right activist made the call  yesterday while speaking at a forum organized by Credible Igbo Women Initiative (CIWI) with the theme, “ Enough of the Killings” at Yaba, Lagos.

While calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to find solution to insecurity and  killings in the country, Onwenu lamented that  it is unfortunate that there is no day one wakes up in the morning that  he or she  is not confronted with news of people  killed, adding that Nigeria has become a difficult place to live. She called on those involved in the killings to shield their swords and let peace reign.

Onwenu who was the former Chairperson of Imo State Council of Arts and Culture  said no  one is happy over the  news of killings daily in the country.

“Please let’s sit and talk with the youths that are being slaughtered daily. We are using this opportunity to reach out to the young people. I love Nigeria. I am proudly Nigeria. If  you want us to part of Nigeria love all of us.

“Mr President please help us. The number one agenda of Government is security. We want Nigeria to be one and move forward,” she stated, while sobbing profusely.

Onwuenu  who disclosed that she is from Orlu in Imo state, advised that  Government should not to see Ndigbo people as members of Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), while advising that  those agitating should not be marginalized, but they should be listened to and treated like citizens of Nigeria.

“They have a right like everyone in Nigeria. We want and need peace. What of those carrying AK 47 openly, killing and destroying peoples’ farm? What happen to them? Nigerians are wonderful people. Why must we not have a country where Nigeria can excel?  She queried.
