LAGOS JULY 14TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The entire Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, was thrown into mourning mood Wednesday night when a Nigerian passenger on Emirates aircraft slumped and died immediately after alighting from the plane.
The Nigerian, who was later identified as Dada Isaac Olusola, had arrived Nigeria from United States on flight EK783 (DXB) with the airline at 15:55 hours.
The deceased, who was also the President of Lions Club in Nigeria, was with a passport number A04501199.
A source close to the terminal told Independent that at 16:18 hours, the passenger slumped at the screening point where he was attended to and given medication by airport clinic personnel.
But by 17:34 hours, the passenger was later pronounced dead in the presence of his wife and members of the Lions Club who accompanied him from abroad.
The passenger, it was gathered, was pronounced dead by Dr. Abdullahi of Lagos Airport Clinic.
“The passenger arrived with every other passenger healthy, but all of a sudden, he was no longer comfortable and before we knew it, he just slumped and later pronounced dead.
“The passenger was accompanied by his wife and members of the Lions Club. His remains was later taken away by his wife to the morgue at 18:00hrs. Someone later informed us that the passenger and wife had arrived from USA”, a source added.
However, another source close to the terminal alleged that the suspect might have died of cardiac arrest.
The deceased was said to have gone to the US for a conference.
But when our correspondent contacted the media consultant of Emirates Airlines in Nigeria, they denied knowledge of the death, but promised to get back to him after confirmation.
However, as at the time of filing in this report, the airline was yet to get back to our correspondent.
