Lagos Police Arrest Masked Robber Snatching Bags In Ajegunle
LAGOS FEBRUARY 22ND(NEWSRANGERS)-A suspected member of an armed robbery gang, allegedly behind series of attacks in Ajegunle and its suburbs wearing mask has been arrested.
The suspect, Musa Imoran and his gang had allegedly gone out on a robbing spree on February 19, snatching phones and bags along Agugu street, Ajegunle.
Lagos State police command boss, Muazu Zubairu, who paraded the suspect said the attack took place around 2am.
He said information was received from a credible source, that some robbers were sighted around Agugu Street, Ajegunle armed with assorted weapons, robbing people of their valuables.
He said based on the information, a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives based in Ajegunle, were mobilised to the scene and that on sighting the operatives, the robbers scampered in different directions in their bid to evade arrest.
He said that luck ran out for one of the robbers who was arrested with one pump action gun with 20 unexpended cartridges, two pairs of hand gloves, two chains and belts.
“During interrogation, he gave his name as Musa Imoran. He later led the operatives to their armoury where an additional pump action rifle with 30 unexpended cartridges, one AK-47 magazine with 24 live ammunition 100 rounds of Beretta Pistol ammunition were recovered,” he said.
Zubairu said investigation was ongoing with a view to apprehending other fleeing members of the gang to face prosecution.
