Lady Loses N400,000 To Fake Spiritualist In Lagos

LAGOS FEBRUARY 8TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A lady, Florence Sanwo, has been swindled to the tune of N400,000 in her search for spiritual help in Lagos and her condition became worse.

The incident happened at Abule Egba area where she met one self acclaimed spiritualist, Saheed Olatunji, who lured her into parting with the said amount having successfully given her fake vision about her challenges in life.

The victim, Florence, was said to have believed Olatunji, who reportedly instilled fear into her and ordered her to bring the money in order to solve her problems.
She then raised the money and gave it to Olatunji.

However, after she handed the money over to Olatunji, he prayed for her and gave her some concoctions to use with a time frame within which her problems will be solved.

But Florence’s condition became worse the more she was using the items given to her. She then realised that Olatunji had defrauded her and went to the Area G Police Command, Ogba to report the alleged fraud.

The suspect, Olatunji, was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation. When asked to bring the money, he said he had prayed for the lady, given her some items to use and that he was not the person that answers prayers.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for obtaining and stealing under false pretence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, then asked the Court to give a date for trial for the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence since he pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T. A. Adegun, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in the Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd February, 2021, for mention.
