Kidnappers Of Monarch Son, 14 Abuja Villagers Slash Ransom To N4m, 2 Bags Of Rice, Wines, Drugs

LAGOS FEBRUARY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The abductors of the son of the traditional ruler of Gwombe, Junaidu Danjuma and 14 other villagers in Gwargwada chiefdom in Kuje Area Council of Abuja have reviewed their demands.

They have now slashed the N15 million ransom, earlier demanded for the release of the victims, to N4 million, including two bags of rice.

Daily Trust had reported that 11 villagers alongside the wife of the PDP vice chairman of Gwargwada ward, Mrs Asabe Mohammed Koriya, were kidnapped on February 4, 2022.

A day after, the kidnappers struck at the same spot and abducted the son of the village chief, Danjuma and two others.

One person, identified as Kabiru Sani, was however shot dead in an attempt to escape.

A family member of one of the victims, who preferred anonymity, told our reporter through telephone on Wednesday, that the kidnappers have slashed the ransom from N15 million to N4 million after several pleadings and intensive negotiations.

He said the kidnappers also demanded two bags of rice, drugs and a carton of wines.

He said one of the kidnapped persons escaped from the kidnappers’ den, adding that family members of those still in captivity were making efforts to raise the N4 million ransom.

“Family members of the kidnapped victims have been going around the village begging to see how they can raise the money to pay the ransom and also buy two bags of rice and drinks they are demanding too,” he said.

The Agabe of Gwargwada-Ugbada, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, expressed concerns over the plights of the kidnapped victims still being held captive.

He appealed to security agents to come to the aid of the family of the victims by intensifying efforts to secure the release of the victims from the hands of their abductors.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, promised to call our reporter back.

She has however not done that as of the time of filing this report.
