Gunmen Besiege FCT Community, Abduct Chief, Thirteen Subjects
LAGOS APRIL 12TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Kidnappers have abducted the village chief of the Chida community in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, John Kwayidami, and 13 of his subjects.
City & Crime learnt that an 18-year-old boy, identified as Solomon, was shot in the leg by the kidnappers while attempting to escape.
A resident of Chida, Ishaya Musa, said the incident happened on Thursday around 11:34pm when the kidnappers, wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded the community.
He said the kidnappers went to the chief’s palace and whisked him away before proceeding to abduct 13 other people from their homes.
“Unfortunately, a young boy who, out of fear, as a result of the sporadic gunshots, tried to escape was shot on the leg by the kidnappers, and he is currently at the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
According to him, some of the victims were asleep outside their compounds due to excessive heat when the kidnappers invaded and surrounded the community.
Musa said contact was established on Saturday evening when the leader of the kidnappers called the families of the victims.
City & Crime reports that Chida community is about three kilometres away from neighbouring Bukpe village, which kidnappers also invaded and abducted the village chief of Bukpe, Alhaji Hussaini Shamdozhi, last year. His wife and three children were also abducted early February this year.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the latest kidnapping incident as of the time of filing the report.
