Gunmen Attack Lagos Bureau De Change, Cart Away Millions In Foreign Currency
LAGOS FEBRUARY 12H (NEWSRANGERS)-Some deadly armed robbers caused serious havoc at a popular Bureau De Change Market Plaza in Ikotun area of Lagos; carted away millions in foreign currencies and then escaped freely.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Kasam Plaza located along Idimu Road by College Bus Stop, Ikotun area of Lagos.
The total amount the bandits carted away was not immediately known as the
victims mainly from the Northern part of the country were still in shock to
narrate what happened.
But sources at the plaza said it was in foreign currencies running over N500m
when calculated together.
An eye witness said that the robbers, numbering over 10, stormed the place at 4pm last Tuesday with arms, charms and other dangerous weapons and successfully robbed many victims from shop to shop and escaped.
The plaza has been operating for the past three years without any form of
security arrangement probably thinking that robbers cannot attack them.
But the last operation has opened their eyes and they realised that they were
no longer safe hence they have made arrangement and stationed OP MESA
operatives to secure the place despite the fact that Police Station is few meters
to the plaza.
When our reporter visited Ikotun Police Division to speak with the DPO over the matter, he was told that the DPO went to the State Command for CP’s briefing.
However, sources at the Station confirmed the incident and said the Police have since commenced investigation into the matter.
At the plaza, operatives of OP MESA were seen fully armed on standby to secure the place as the traders have since commenced business transactions in the plaza.
