Gunmen Abduct, Kill Federal Radio Corporation Of Nigeria Journalist

LAGOS JANUARY 16TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Unknown  gunmen    on    Tuesday  killed a Yola journalist working with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria after  allegedly abducting him from his home.

 Maxwell Nashon’s  corpse was recovered behind the perimeter fence of the  broadcasting station.

 It was learnt that Nashon had his hands bound. He also allegedly  suffered a machete cut.

A source said,  “Our colleague was killed by unknown men, who took him out from his residence, bound  his hands, took a machete and struck him and dumped his corpse behind Fombina (FRCN Yola fence). His corpse was found by some women going to farm this morning (Tuesday).”

He  said  the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps removed  the body  after  the women raised the alarm.

The Secretary of the  Adamawa State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Fedelis Jockhan, said they had contacted the FRCN  over the incident.

Jockthan called on the state government to probe  the death of the journalist and ensure that  his killers were apprehended.

 He  said,  “We condemn the brutal killing  of  our colleague   and we call on the government to step in and unravel his killers. This  was  a young man with a promising future gruesomely killed by unidentified persons.”
