LAGOS DECEMBER 15TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Residents  of Port Harcourt are gripped with fear after unidentified corpses litter some streets of the metropolis with nobody or agency coming to remove them.

A resident of Abakaliki-Njamanze Street, Mile I, Diobu, who refused to be named, said three corpses were found lying at different points of the area within the last week.

While their eyes, breasts and private parts were removed from each of the two female corpses, only the man’s head was severed from his lifeless body.

According to him, the strange development has thrown people living within the neighborhood into fear “because just when everybody is grappling with waking up to find a corpse lying on the road after nothing like that was seen the previous night, we see another corpse and yet another all in one week. But the fact that some parts of their bodies are usually missing makes us believe the development may handiwork of ritualists.”

Yet, a resident of Arochukwu, who identified himself as Mr. Pepple, said two female corpses, their breasts and private parts all missing, are lying at a junction connecting the area with Calabar Street.

According to Pepple, what terrifies residents over the development is that nobody or group had claimed responsibility nor is anybody coming to claim or remove the corpses covering the area with offensive smells as the dead bodies continue to rise and swell more.

A junction in Rumuodomaya area of Port Harcourt was also not spared as residents said a female corpse has been lying there since Saturday night with her eyes, breasts and genitals all removed.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Rivers State, Grace Iringe Koko, could not confirm the development, saying the command has not received any report. But a senior officer in Mile Police Station said they are exploring useful lids to get to the root of the matter.
