Explosion: 80 Out Of Every 100 People Tested In Kano Are Covid-19-Positive-Govt
LAGOS MAY 3RD (NEWSRANGERS)-There are indications that 80 out of every 100 people tested for coronavirus in Kano State test positive to it.
This is as the Head of Communications, UNICEF Field Office in Kano State, Rabiu Musa, died died on Saturday May 2.
His death is among those of several dignitaries who died in the last few days, with one of his sons saying he showed symptoms of what he (son) called coronavirus.
Head of the Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus in Kano State, Nasiru Gwarzo, disclosed that the rate of community transmission in the state is ‘now 80 percent’.
He said this during an interview with BBC, stressing that about 80 per cent of the samples received from communities in the state turned out positive for Coronavirus.
Noting that that there was increased testing capacity in the state, he added that the state neede and urgent intervention as the disease wass spreading to various areas.
“When about 100 samples are delivered, there are five to ten that are positive (for coronavirus).
“But now, when 100 samples are returned, about 80 are coronavirus cases,” he said.
Confirming Musa’s death to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday, Musa said his father’s illness lasted a a few days.
He said, “My dad died at about 3 a.m on Saturday, after battling with a sickness for a few days. Although, we noticed symptoms we suspect to be of coronavirus, the result of the test conducted is not yet out.
“A week ago, he complained of sore throat and malaria, but after few days of medication, he became normal. Few days later, he complained that he was finding it difficult to breath.
“He also complained that no matter how short he walked, he lost breath. So, he was taken to the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Dala on Friday where he gave up.”
The UNICEF official died at the age of 60 and s survived by seven children and one wife.
