Benin Monarch Warns Youths Over Growing Money Rituals
LAGOS JANUARY 2ND (NEWSRANGERS)-The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has expressed concern over the growing cases of money rituals among the youths.
He warned that the behaviour was abominable and alien to Benin customs and tradition.
The Oba express his concern on Sunday in Benin, during a thanksgiving service at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, to end the 2018 annual Igue festival.
He advised youths to shun money rituals, noting that there was no easy way for wealth accumulation.
He said, “Youths who cling to the illusion that they can become wealthy by killing people or stealing female underwear for ritual purposes, will no doubt face the consequence.’’
Ewuare also warned politicians to desist from violence and other acts capable of truncating the electoral process.
This is even as he cautioned the youths not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs to cause mayhem during elections.
He, therefore, urged politicians and youths to shun acts that could undermine free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
In his message, the Chief Priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa Harrison Okao, congratulated the Oba.
He implored the congregation not to adulterate Benin culture and traditions.
