Aisha Buhari Sick, Hospitalized In German Hospital
LAGOS JANUARY 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)–Mrs. Aisha Buhari is gravely ill and being treated in a German hospital following an undisclosed ailment, two authoritative sources close to the first family told THEWILL Thursday, confirming our earlier story on her unusual disappearance from the scene.
The sources, who asked not to be named in this report, said Mrs. Buhari suddenly became ill a few days after formally inaugurating her audacious and unprecedented campaign council to help her husband, Muhammadu Buhari win reelection this February.
The sources added that Mrs. Buhari, the very outspoken first lady, who had publicly criticized two people (presumably Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff and Mamman Daura, the president’s cousin), accusing them of usurping and wielding presidential power ahead of the president, was flown to a German hospital when her condition deteriorated and wouldn’t respond to medications administered by her doctor.
With the presidential election about three weeks away, the president would sure get a boost if his wife makes it back to the campaign trail before the polls as her popularity and acceptability numbers are high amongst voters because of her candour.
Since the launch of her 500-member women & youth themed campaign structure inside the presidential villa, Abuja on January 3, 2019, Mrs. Buhari only managed to appear at the northwest zone inauguration of the structure in Kano on January 5, 2019. Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the vice president represented her at the zonal launch in Owerri, Imo State and Ibadan, Oyo State.
Her spokesman, Suleiman Haruna had in a phone conversation Wednesday refused to speak on record on Mrs. Buhari’s unusual hiatus and her state of health, citing security reasons.
“Mrs. Buhari delegates tasks when necessary and her absence from public events does not mean she is ill or indisposed. Her team, led by the wife of the Vice President has been representing her at campaign events and rooting for support for the president and the party. So I don’t know why people are saying she is not well because of that,” Suleiman said.
