Again, IGP Shuns Senate Invitation
LAGOS MAY 9TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday again rebuffed the invitation of the Senate.
Idris, absent for the third time, was summoned over the saga of Senator Dino Melaye and the spate of killings across the country.
The absence of Idris led to the senators calling for a closed door session, which was still on as at press time.
Worse still, this time around, nobody stood in for Idris.
On the first two occasions, Idris sent the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joseph Habilla, who was rejected by the senators.
On Wednesday when the IGP was called by the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, there was no response.
Lawan told the lawmakers that the Clerk informed him that the IGP was not present, adding that before now, he had made an attempt to call Idris and even sent him text messages, but there was no response.
After Lawan’s submission, both Senators Isah Misau and Eyinnaya Abaribe called for the closed door session to take a definite stand on the matter.
