Lagos Police Intimate Denmark’s Embassy Over Killing Of Nigerian Artiste, Daughter
LAGOS APRIL 9TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Lagos State police command has written a letter to the embassy of Denmark in Nigeria intimating it of an alleged crime committed by its citizen and commencement of police investigation.
Police spokesman, Chike Oti, a Superintendent of Police, who made the disclosure to newsmen yesterday noted that the command in its usual manner of informing members of the public about its activities wishes to state for the records, that it is investigating an alleged case of murder that took place on Thursday, April 5, at Bellasta Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“Letters have been sent to the Denmark embassy intimating it that the state police command is investigating Mr. Peter Nielsen, a citizen of Denmark, for an alleged case of murder. Further development on this case will be duly communicated to the general public.
“In respect of the unfortunate incident, the command declares as follows: that on April 5, 2018, at about 11:00a.m., it received a complaint from the Facility Manager of Bellasta Tower, Banana Island, Mr. Kunle Kukoyi, that at about 7:00a.m. of the same day, he was informed by 13 year-old Miss Gift Madaki that she heard her elder sister, late Mrs. Zainab Ali-Nielsen, aged 37, popularly known as Alizee, crying in the early hours of the day as she was being manhandled by her husband, 53-year old Peter Nielsen. The little girl estimated the time she heard her sister’s cry to be 3:45a.m.
“Based on the report, the command mobilised its Crime Scene Detectives to the location with the medics from Britannia Hospital, Lekki Phase 1 Lagos. Together they went to Flat 17, Block 4 apartment of the Nielsen. Two bodies, identified as that of Zainab and her three-year-old baby, Petra Nielsen, were found in the kitchen.
“The doctor and his team inspected the bodies and confirmed them dead. Preliminary investigation conducted at the scene revealed that the violence that consumed the deceased persons started in the couple’s bedroom but the bodies were dragged to the kitchen. On closer examination, visible marks of violence were seen on the bodies. The bodies were photographed and evacuated to Lagos Island General Hospital for autopsy,” he said.
Report said Alizee, the native of Kogi State, had signed a two-year record deal with an Asian record label, Petra Entertainment in 2017, which reportedly earned her a brand new Ford Explorer, a house on Banana Island and international distribution with affiliates of her record company in Asia.
According to the late singer’s sister, Madaki Gift, she said she heard the victim screaming for help before she was killed. “It just happened over night when she finished preparing the food for her husband. The housemaid went to her room and I was the last person to leave the kitchen. So after a while, there was a fight between both of them and she was just shouting “help, help!!
“I woke my younger sister up asking her if she heard any noise, later I saw the man hitting her head on the floor. I tried to help but he locked everywhere, there was no way for me to run and call people to come and help. This was around 4:00a.m. in the morning. By the time we got there later in the day, she was already dead.”
Meanwhile, the late singer’s record label has issued a statement urging the Nigerian Immigration Service to be on the alert. The statement partly read: “Petra Entertainment Limited has received with shock news of the sudden demise of our artist Nielsen Zainab Joy and her daughter Nielsen Petra at their Banana Island, Lagos home on the 5th of April 2018.
“While we exercise restraint in making public comments on the circumstances surrounding the demise of Alizee and her daughter, in order not to prejudice ongoing police investigations, it has become important to correct some misinformation presently circulating in the media space.
“We call all law enforcement agencies to speedily unravel the circumstances surrounding the demise of these vibrant Nigerians and bring all complicit persons and/or entities to justice. In the light of reports suggesting that Alizee’s husband may be under police investigation in connection with these painful deaths, we particularly call on the Nigerian Immigration Services to remain vigilant at this time and urge the cooperation of all foreign missions in the country. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the relatives of the late Zainab and Petra.”
Before her death, the singer had been scheduled for the ‘Kingmaker Concert,’ a musical event to be headlined by Alterplate Music Company artiste, Harrysong, this month. She was set to promote her January 2018-released single, ‘Alhaji Musa’, before the alleged murder.
