Saraki:Police Raid On Edwin Clark’s Residence Threat To Democracy
LAGOS AUGUS 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to the raid on the residence of the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark.
Saraki, in a statement on Wednesday, described the action by the police officers as a “gross abuse of state institutions”.
The Senate President also questioned the timing of the raid, saying it does not reflect well on the country, as it constitutes a threat to democracy.
On Tuesday, four policemen, raided the Abuja residence of Clark. The officers were allegedly searching for illegal weapons.
The police, in a statement by Force PRO, Mr Jimoh Moshood, said they have since arrested five persons in connection with the “unauthorized” raid, adding that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had no knowledge of the raid.
