LAGOS AUGUST 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Sachet alcohol sellers in Ibadan, Oyo State, have staged a peaceful protest, calling on the Federal Government to lift the ban on the sale of sachet alcohol and alcoholic products packaged below 20cl.
The traders gathered in the Beere area of Ibadan, where they expressed concern over the impact of the policy on their livelihoods and daily income.
The protesters said the sale of sachet alcohol had been their primary means of livelihood for years, enabling them to support their families and meet their financial obligations.
They lamented that the ban had left many of them struggling to survive and called on the Federal Government and relevant regulatory authorities to reconsider the policy.
The traders also urged the authorities to take into account the economic consequences of the ban on small-scale businesses and provide an opportunity for affected sellers to return to trading.
