Customs Boss Initiates Process Of Purchasing Made-In-Nigeria Cars For The Organisation

LAGOS MAY 12TH (NEWRANGERS)-In alignment with the Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy of President Bola Tinubu, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has initiated the process of purchasing locally assembled cars for the organisation.

According to the spokesman of the organisation, Abdullahi Maiwada (AC), several car assembly plants have already showcased their products at the Customs headquarters in Abuja for inspection.

Vehicles produced by members of the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) were presented at the Service’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja for review and assessment.

The CGC praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy, describing it as a transformative initiative for the automobile industry. He pledged that the Nigeria Customs Service would continue to patronise and support the sector to boost the nation’s industrial economy.

After the special inspection, the CGC commended the association for its strong representation and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the vehicles displayed.

“In terms of aesthetics, I am satisfied with what I see here. In terms of functionality, we have been assured by the manufacturers that the vehicles are quite efficient. What gives me joy is that in all the vehicles I have seen today, there is an imprint of Nigeria, which shows that they are fully assembled here. It gives me joy that Mr President’s policy is on the right course,” he remarked.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cedric Masters Group, Ilekuba Anslem, commended the CGC for his unwavering support for the automobile industry.

Similarly, Oluwatobi Ajayi, the Chairman and CEO of Nord Automobile Limited, praised Adeniyi, stating:

“Even before this policy was announced, you had been championing made-in-Nigeria vehicles. With Mr President’s announcement, we are confident that you will be the first CEO of a government parastatal to fully champion this policy.”

Ajayi also assured the CGC that Nord Automobile would maintain its after-sales services and not abandon its vehicles.

Likewise, Jonas Ojukwu, a Director at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited (IVM), pledged the company’s commitment to delivering the best to the Nigeria Customs Service.

Vehicles from Mikano Motors and Stallion Motors were also on display during the event.
