Gunmen Ambush ABC Transport Bus, Abduct 18 Passengers In Kogi State

LAGOS MARCH 21ST (NEWSRANGERS)-Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted 18 passengers of an Abuja-bound ABC Transport bus in Kogi State.

Retired Commodore Jerry Omodara, the security adviser to the Governor of Kogi, confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday.

He noted that the incident occurred on Sunday, March 16, when the bus, which was traveling from the South East to Abuja, was hijacked by suspected kidnappers at Oloma in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi, near the Enugu State border.

Omodara reassured the public that a team of military, police, DSS, NSCDC, and vigilante groups in Kogi are working together to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims. He revealed that the state’s security heads met twice on Wednesday to plan the operation to free the hostages.

“This strong collaboration, along with helpful information from the local community, is key to our efforts to capture the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims,” Omodara said.

“Kogi has seen a significant reduction in criminal activities and kidnappings due to cooperation between authorities and local residents.”

Omodara also reassured the families of the kidnapped passengers that they would be safely released.

“We are dedicated to making Kogi a safe place for everyone, whether residents or visitors,” he added.
