LAGOS MAY 30TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The national president of the Association of Medical Sales Representatives Professionals of Nigeria (AMSPON) Mr Abiodun Babatunde Yaya, has called on the Lagos State government to curb the activities of street urchins, otherwise called agberos on the roads in the state.
Speaking on a radio programme, “Realities of Life” on 101.FM hosted by James Nwakanma, he said that the activities of agberos are making life difficult for commercial bus drivers, taxi drivers and commuters on Lagos roads.
He said that the agberos harass and extort money from drivers and commuters, and sometimes make the fares payable on many routes to rise.
He charged the agencies in charge of transport in the state like the Ministry of Transportation and

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to ensure the safety of commuters and commercial transport workers by curbing the activities of agberos on Lagos roads.
Yaya, who is the Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Angel Tunde Global Services, a company that supplies medical products, also called on law enforcement agents in the state not to work with area boys, adding that collaborating with the bad boys empowers them to extort members of the public.
He also called on the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to wear the appropriate uniforms that separate them from agberos.
The national president of the Association of Medical Sales Representatives Professionals of Nigeria (AMSPON) argued that the Lagos State government should train the agberos and empower them with relevant skills so that they will become productive members of society.
Yaya argued that if the agberos were not empowered with skills now, they would become a burden to the government and society in the future.
