Owner Of Drug Slipped Inside Passenger’s Luggage At Lagos Airport Arrested
LAGOS JANUARY 21ST (NEWSRANGERS)-The man who owns that drug that was slipped into the luggage of a passenger by airport staff has been arrested.
The Eagle Online recalls a passenger at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos raised the alarm last week.
The passenger said the staff of Pathfinder International Limited, Ajuzieogu Mac-Elvis Ugochukwu, wanted to use him to get the illicit drug, which was concealed in a bottle of dietary supplements and found to be tramadol, across to Ghana.
The passenger, who was going to Accra in Ghana via Ibom Air on January 16, 2024, after raising the alarm, slapped Ugochukwu for the move.
Both the airport staff and the exhibit were later transferred to NDLEA on January 18, 2024 by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria for investigation.
Preliminary findings by the NDLEA showed the parcel contained 50 pills of tramadol 225mg concealed in a bottle of dietary supplements.
A follow up operation by the Agency led to the arrest of the owner of the illicit drug, Okosun Paul Punnit.
Punnit was immediately arrested by operatives of the NDLEA upon his return to Nigeria on January 19, 2024.
Confirming the development, the Director of Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, said Punnit has in his statement confirmed ownership of the drug.
