2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16: Not Yet Uhuru For Nigeria

FLYING-EAGLES

LAGOS MAY 27TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Nigeria Yet To Qualify For The Round Of 16 Despite Two Wins From Two Games

The 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup has reached the penultimate day of the group stage, and there’s sure to be more drama in store.

Nigeria’s qualification for the next round of the competition is still in the hang despite cruising past the Dominican Republic and the formidable Italian side.

As it stands, the Flying Eagles top Group D with maximum six points but still have to wait until the final group stage matches. Both Brazil and Italy have good chances to make it to the second round. Both teams have three points each. While Brazil has plus five goals in their bag after demolishing Dominican Republic 6-0, Italy stands a better chance against the already-eliminated Dominican Republic on Saturday. .

If Ladan Bosso’s side fails Brazil test on Saturday, then, their qualification will now depend on the results from other groups.

Only Colombia, the Gambia, England, and Argentina are assured of their places in the last 16.
