Nigerians React As Police Dump Corpse Of Accident Victim By The Roadside

LAGOS JULY 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Nigerians have  reacted to the story of Nigeria police dumping the corpse of an accident victim by the road side after the body was rejected by the mortuary management of three hospitals in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja were reported to have  allegedly dumped an accident corpse after being rejected by three mortuaries belonging to Garki Hospital, National Hospital, and Federal Medical Centre.

According to a popular Twitter personality, Henry Shield, a commercial motorcyclist, widely known as Okada and a female passenger he was conveying were involved in an accident on Saturday.

He immediately called the NPF who arrived at the scene in less than 20 minutes and conveyed the victims to the hospital. Unfortunately, the okada man died before he could reach the hospital, while the female passenger was referred from Garki Hospital to the National hospital where she passed on.

Meanwhile, at the Garki hospital, the management allegedly refused to accept the corpse of the Okada man. The same rejection was met at the National hospital. The officers of the law then proceeded to the Mortuary belonging to the Federal Medical Centre, and the same fate was met.

Tired of the rejection, the police officers allegedly returned the body belonging to the Okada man to the accident spot. They reportedly called the chairman, Okada Rider’s Association to come and identify the body.

Reacting to the action of the police, Noble Prince wrote, “The government of Nigeria is not responsible for the welfare of its citizens whom they collect tax from and live their luxurious lifestyle. If a government hospital reget you and Nigerian police reget you to be buried by who? Shame on our government.”

Adams Opiotu said, “Is there no General Hospital or any government-owned hospital aside from the Garki national hospital that rejected the corpse? The police can do better. They don’t know their powers except for the part which could be used for selfish interest.”

Another Nigerian wrote, “How on earth should police drop a corpse by the roadside under the shallow reason that hospital rejected him. Nigeria is a terribly damaged society, with a grossly incompetent police force.”
