Emefiele Went Beyond Acceptable Boundaries By Running For Presidency-Moghalu

MOGHALU AND EMEFIELE

LAGOS JUNE 23RD (NEWSRANGERS)-Kingsley Moghalu, the former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, expressed his opinion during an interview with Arise News, stating that Godwin Emefiele, the suspended CBN governor went beyond acceptable boundaries by running for the presidency while holding the position of CBN governor.

Moghalu mentioned that numerous allegations have been made against Emefiele during his detention, but he chose not to focus on them.

Moghalu noted that one of the government’s mistakes was appointing Emefiele as the CBN governor despite having reservations about his suitability for the role. He stated that Emefiele’s arrest did not come as a surprise to him or to Nigerians.

Moghalu expressed his criticism of Emefiele’s performance and suitability for the role, highlighting that political decisions are often driven by self-interest rather than considering the consequences for the nation’s economy.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the central bank’s statutory mandate and not substituting it with political mandates.

Moghalu further criticized Emefiele’s decision to run for the presidency while still occupying the position of CBN governor, deeming it as crossing the line and rendering him unfit for the office.
