Container-Laden Truck Crushes Two To Death In Ogun State

LAGOS JANUARY 14TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A container-laden truck has crushed two persons to death after it tumbled on motion.

The crash occurred at the Akankan village, along Olodo on the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident on Sunday.

Akinbiyi said the crash, which involved an unregistered Mack truck, occurred on Saturday.

The TRACE PRO said the accident was caused by excessive speeding on the part of the truck driver, which led to loss of control.

According to him, the truck somersaulted when the driver applied the brake.

Akinbiyi said one person died at the scene of the accident, while the other victim died at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, while receiving treatment.

He added that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue of the General Hospital, Odeda.

Akinbiyi stated that the truck had been cleared off the road, adding that motorists were now enjoying free flow of traffic.

He urged motorists to avoid excessive speeding on the highways.
