The success of the Cross River APC Media wing, as it concerns the guber primary and election, was driven, at the background, by a very notable media giant who has distinguished himself in the New Media Expertise. Countlessly, he had neutralized and confounded various propaganda launched from the rusty cylinder of the desperate opposition with convincing facts, aside activities’ updates of the APC Gubber Flag- bearer, who has now become Governor-elect.
Nathaniel Otaba is a, strikingly, fine gentleman, with very humble appearance. He is unassuming, liberal, selfless and accommodating. Nathaniel Otaba, an indigene of Ofat, Obubra Local Government Area, is the Senior Special Assistant, New Media to the Governor of Cross River State.
Rising from an ICT and Journalism background with dozens of certifications and experience, his appointment in 2016 accelerated the highest level of online and social media presence in the state, ranking Cross River at the number one spot in New Media applications in Nigeria. For the first time in the history of the State, Information dissemination channels were made so simple with his development of the Cross River State Online Television (streaming real time), multiple trending news websites and blogs, Apps, Bulk SMS gateway to reach people in rural and urban areas without access to internet, radio or television with government activities and updates, multiple social media platforms (Cross River Youtube channel, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Pages/Groups) etc. He is the reason why his Boss, Governor Ben Ayade is fondly called “Digital”.
He is the deputy chairman and pioneer member of the Conference of New Media Practitioners of Nigeria (CONMPN).
Nate Otaba is one of Nigeria’s biggest social media influencers with a huge network nationwide. It is the reason he achieved so much success as New Media consultant to the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization (APCO) in 2019, when the administration he is currently serving, was in the People’s Democratic party (PDP).
His record in the management of all Media campaigns at the campaign council structure spans from 2010, 2011, 2015, 2019 and recently 2023 is immeasurable.
Nate Otaba exudes towering competence and confidence in handling any executive office in the state and even Federal. In 2019, he was already penciled for the position of Special Assistant to the President on New Media, had Atiku Abubakar won his Presidential election. Now that our generation have become wearied of having the older generation recycled in executive offices, Otaba is being greatly anticipated as one amongst the appropriate replacements, having being weaned on the tutelage and mentorship of experience itself, which is regarded as the best mentor.
