Pandemonium As Heavy Gunfire Rocks Venue Of Pro-Wike Rally In Bayelsa
LAGOS APRIL 27TH (NEWSRANGERS)-There was tension on Saturday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, following gunshots that rang out at the venue of a mega rally organised by a political group, NEW Associates, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The rally, which was being hosted by George Turnah, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, was in full swing when gunfire suddenly erupted, causing panic in the area.
Although the source of the gunshots remains unclear, security operatives quickly stepped in to restore calm.
Speaking to journalists after the incident, the Secretary of the NEW Associates in Bayelsa State, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, confirmed that the rally would continue despite the disruption.
He assured supporters that normalcy had returned, and in no time, members of the group regrouped at the venue to proceed with their activities as planned.
