LAGOS JANUARY 7TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman settled their differences hours after both had an on-field spat during Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Mozambique in their AFCON round of 16 tie on Monday.
The NFF, through the Super Eagles camp administrator Dayo Enebi Achor, disclosed this to the media on Tuesday evening.
Osimhen had confronted Lookman after the Galatasaray striker expressed anger at not receiving a pass from his teammate, and the Atalanta forward’s attempt to douse the tension sparked further reaction from Osimhen who subsequently asked to be substituted, and left the team on the pitch after the final whistle.
There were widespread rumours of potential squad trouble in the aftermath of the incident, but Achor has come out to dispel such talk.
He disclosed that both players resolved their differences, adding that activities were going on accordingly in the Super Eagles camp.
“There is no problem whatsoever in our camp,” Achor started. “Whatever people perceived as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later.
“Everything is fine and we are currently in training.”
Archor also disclosed that Akor Adams, who scored the final goal in the mauling and dedicated it to his sick mother, has been able to pay a brief visit her in the hospital where she is currently recuperating.
“He took permission to visit his mother, who was hospitalized here in Fès, and returned in less than an hour,” Achor said.
Nigeria have been the standout nation at the ongoing AFCON tournament.
The Super Eagles have won all four matches so far, an are the only side to score four or more goals in Morocco.
