OML30: We’ll Continue To Give Priority To Our Host Communities- Heritage Energy
LAGOS NOVEMBER 4TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) has reiterated that in line with its vision to be the partner of choice for its stakeholders, the company will continue to give priority to the interests of the indigenes of the 112 host communities in OML 30 and will actively promote the participation of businesses in the host communities – when it comes to providing services to the company.
This reaffirmation was made by Mr. Sylvester Okoh, General Manager, Community Relations shortly after separate meetings in Asaba recently. The meetings which held on the 22nd and 23rd of October were with the Delta State Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba, the Chairman of the Committee on Environment, Oil & Gas in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Pullah Ekpotuayerin, and the leadership of Oloromo community in Delta State.
Okoh reassured the communities that payment of funds to the communities as mandated by the General Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) will commence immediately as the Joint Ventures Partners have approved the cash call requests which will enable the company to make the payments
The President-General of Olomoro Community, Pastor Blessing Agboro, who spoke at the meeting, requested that (HEOSL) should ensure that contractors of Olomoro extract are awarded contracts in the spirit of the local/community content provisions of the GMoU, claiming that in the past 2 years, contractors from Olomoro community have not been given the opportunity to do major contracts for which they have the capacity.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Prince Emma Amgbaduba, charged Heritage and Olomoro community to maintain peace and asked Heritage to endeavor to employ more members of Olomoro community whenever there are employment opportunities in the organization.
The Chairman of the Committee on Environment, Oil & Gas in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Pullah Ekpotuayerin and members of the Committee commended the company for its efforts so far while encouraging more community participation in Heritage’s operations especially as it relates to flow station communities and communities hosting major assets.
Heritage Energy Operational Services which took over the operation of OML 30 on behalf of the Joint Venture Partners Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) & Shoreline Natural resources Limited (SNRL) in 2017 to revitalise production in OML30 had
paid over N2.3 billion in taxes to the government between 2017 and 2019 and provided over N181m Scholarships funds per annum to students from host communities in OML30.
