ObiDients Raise N500k For Member Rendered Homeless In Lagos Demolition Exercise

DEMOLITION IN LAGOS

LAGOS AUGUST 14TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Members of a political support group known as Obidients have raised rent money for a comrade who was displaced by the recent demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos state.

Hundreds of houses Oworonshoki and Idi Araba communities were demolished by the state government days ago and many families were rendered homeless.

A Twitter user made a cry for help on the platform, for residents who were displaced as a result of the government’s action.

The Lagos state government & the Oba of Oworoshoki have demolished over 500 houses and rendered over 8,000 people homeless with no form of compensation.”

A popular Twitter user, Morris Monye, who is a frontline member of the Obidient movement, revealed that someone who was a part of Super Volunteers for Peter Obi was displaced and he needed N500,000 to get a new home for his family.

He tweeted; “One of our own (a member of the Super Volunteers for Peter Obi) was displaced by this harsh govt policy.

He needs 500k to re-home his family. I am calling on all well-meaning Nigerians to assist. Every 1k or 2k counts. You can call him to encourage. He needs all the encouragement possible.”

A day later, he gave an update saying that the money had been raised. Monye thanked everybody who made it possible for the target to be reached in 24 hours.

“We’ve reached our goal. Thank you all so much. God bless,” he added.
