‘Nigerians Yet To See Buhari Makes The Kind Of Moves For Tinubu As Obasanjo Did For Obi’

LAGOS JANUARY 11TH (NEWSRANGERS)-In the wake of his rare appearance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and governorship rally in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari has been criticized by renowned public affairs analyst, and journalist, Alhaji Majeed Dahiru over his perceived aloofness toward showing support for his party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Africa Independent Television’s ‘Kaakaki’ program on Tuesday morning, Dahiru argued that despite appearing at the APC campaign rally in Adamawa several hours ago, Buhari is yet to do enough to reciprocate the overwhelming support he got from Tinubu and his allies during the election campaigns back in 2015.
To buttress his point, the renowned political analyst insisted that Buhari is yet to make the kind of significant, underground moves that were made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that has seen the candidacy of Peter Obi of the Labour Party become a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape today.
He said; “It is not necessarily about Buhari going around the 36 States to support Tinubu. When you are supporting somebody, you know what to do to show that support. When Obasanjo decided to support Obi several months ago even before his public endorsement, we saw what he was doing. We saw the quiet move he made to actually strengthen Obi’s candidacy. We saw and felt it. And we knew it was happening.
But we have not seen the same from Mr. President for his party’s candidate, Tinubu. We are yet to see it. We need to see his moves. We need to see and feel those strategic meetings taking place on Tinubu’s behalf. We need to hear and feel that indeed, he is complimenting the efforts of the northern governors. We need to Buhari taking charge and give support to his candidate without compromising the process.”
