Nigeria Military Launches Manhunt For Attackers Of Jonathan’s Residence

LAGOS DECEMBER 25TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Joint Task Force (JTF) deployed to the Niger Delta has launched a manhunt in the creeks and waterways for the gunmen who attacked a gunboat stationed behind ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s residence in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

Major Jonah Unuakhalu Spokesman, Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said: “At about 3am today, unknown gunmen attacked our gun boat deployed close to the house of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The vigilant troops repelled the attack while some of the assailants escaped with gunshot wounds.

“However, during the attack one soldier paid the supreme price and another wounded in action.

“The wounded has been evacuated to the hospital and responding to treatment.

“Preliminary Investigation is ongoing to identify the person’s or groups behind the attack.

“The people are advised to go about their lawful businesses as the security of lives and properties is priority to Operation Delta Safe during the Yuletide period and beyond.”

Jonathan who was in his Yenagoa residence when the incident happened visited the incident site to assess the situation condemned the incident and assured his kinsmen that there was no cause for alarm.
