Fire Guts Gov. Aregbesola’s Office In Osun State

LAGOS JULY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The office of Osun state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola located in the state secretariat, Abeere Osogbo was on Monday evening gutted by fire. Though the Governor was not in the office at the time of the incident, but his deputy, Mrs. Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, was said to be in her office when the fire incident occurred. According to sources, smoke was noticed around the Governor’s Office located within the building called White House some minutes to 5pm.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that some security men observed that bulbs in the adjoining offices to that of the governor were switching off and on intermittently and made efforts to unravel the cause of that. The source added that: “since the governor was not around, his office was locked and no one could access it, when it was discovered, we looked through the window blind, that smoke was in the office. “Efforts to gain access immediately were unsuccessful and that might have contributed to whatever damage the fire might have caused.” As at time of filing this report, officials of Fire Service, had yet to put out the fire. A statement by the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa however said that the incident was as a result of power surge which occurred in one of the Air Conditioners inside the office of the Governor.
“It is heartening to note that not a single document, or equipment was destroyed and nobody was hurt. “We reiterate that every document in the governor’s office is intact. “It is not a serious fire outbreak. “The fire mainly affected the office of the Governor alone; no other office is affected. “It is regrettable that the electricity suppliers have been persistently unable to regulate the supply of power to meet the necessary standard”.
